Overview of Delta Presence

Delta-presence is a privacy metric. It quantifies the probability that an individual belongs to an analyzed dataset. 

Delta-presence estimate the probability that an individual belongs to a dataset by comparing the number of records in the dataset that match the individual's quasi-identifier (QI) values to the number of records in the population that match the individual's QI values.

Delta-presence advantages include

• more accurate than k-anonymity and l-diversity in measuring risk to privacy

• protect against attacks that use background knowledge about the individuals in the dataset.

• Delta presence does not lead to a loss of utility, as the values of the sensitive attributes are not generalized or suppressed.
